Showing the path to sector-specific SOCs for the aviation industry

The Airport Council International (ACI) is an active association with members from airport operators of all sizes and national airport associations, world business partners and educational institutions that are working together to ensure an effective communication and advocacy with legislators, technicians, environmentalists, passengers, business partners and other stakeholders.

ACI represents over 500 airports in 55 countries. Its members handle over 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe. Air transport supports 13.5 million jobs and generates €886 billion in European economic activity (4.4% of GDP). In response to climate change, members committed in June 2019 to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 for the aviation operations under their control without offsetting measures. The European airport industry is overseen and managed from Brussels.

At the first meeting of the ACI EUROPE Cyber Security Committee in Munich from 9-10 April 2024, SAMA PARTNERS’ coordinator of the project, presented the CybAirSOC project to the participants. The presentation, which was included in the agenda under the topic of “AI and Cyber Threats”, aimed to show the path to the realisation of sector-specific security operations centres for the aviation industry. CybAirSOC® aims to create a core for the aviation sector's cybersecurity ecosystem to strengthen airports' cyber threat detection capabilities and enable a sector-tailored approach to sharing cyber threat intelligence, both within the industry community and with other stakeholders such as public authorities.
